(Stuart, IA) – Stuart Police Chief David Reha posted information this (FRIDAY) afternoon on social media, with regard to an accident with multiple reported injuries and airbag deployment, that occurred just before 7-a.m. (July 3rd). Guthrie County Dispatch received the initial 911 call about the collision at the intersection of W. Front and Adair Streets, in Stuart.
An investigation determined a Chevy Malibu was traveling north from the stop sign at Adair Street and had entered the intersection, where it was struck on the passenger side by a Ford F-250 pickup that was traveling east on W. Front Street. The impact caused the pickup to lose control before it came to rest sideways on W. Front Street, just east of the intersection. (Photo from the Stuart PD Facebook page)

The driver of the pickup was evaluated by medics at the scene, and was not transported to the hospital. The driver of the car was transported by Stuart Rescue to the downtown Des Moines Methodist Hospital, for treatment of suspected minor injuries. A juvenile passenger in the car was not hurt. No names were released.
The crash remains under investigation by the Stuart Police Department, which was assisted at the scene by Stuart Rescue, The Stuart Fire Department, and Guthrie County Dispatch. Any enforcement action, Reha said, would be determined upon completion of the accident investigation.
