Unofficial results show 56 percent of Iowa voters have approved an amendment to Iowa’s constitution that will restrict the legislature’s ability to raise income taxes. Radio Iowa’s O. Kay Henderson reports.
The amendment makes it harder for lawmakers to raise the individual income tax and the corporate tax. After the amendment goes into affect corporate or individual tax increases will now require a 2/3 supermajority in each of the chambers. Until the amendment is in affect all that is required to pass and increase is simple majority in each chamber.
