The two candidates running for Iowa’s fourth district seat in the U-S House offered different approaches to lowering gas prices during a televised debate last (Wednesday) night at K-T-I-V in Sioux City. Republican Chris McGowan, the former President of the Siouxland Chamber of Commerce, said completing the Keystone X-L pipeline would have brought more oil into the U.S.
Democrat Dave Dawson, an Assistant Woodbury County Attorney, said there is a direct way to lower prices now.
Both candidates expressed concerns about labor shortages. McGowan says he supports temporary visas for foreign workers.
Dawson agreed.
In closing statements, the candidates thanked each other for running a positive campaign and focusing on the issues.
