3 injured in a Polk County crash, Sunday

(Polk County, IA) – A crash on the east side of Bondurant, Sunday afternoon, resulted in injuries to three people. The Iowa State Patrol reports the collision happened at around 2:50p.m., as a car driven by 27-year-old Ana Kirkpatrick, of Bondurant, was entering Highway 65 from Hawthorne Crossing Road, with the intent to travel southbound.

The car – a 2015 Nissan Altima – made contact with a 2014 Harley Davidson motorcycle, operated by 45-year-old Jacob Flannery, of Colfax, as the motorcycle was traveling northbound on Highway 65. Kirkpatrick, Flannery, and a passenger on his motorcycle – 36-year-old Sharon Bittner, of Bondurant, were all injured and transported to Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

The Patrol described Kirkpatrick’s injuries as minor. Flannery suffered serious injuries. Bittner’s injuries were said to be life-threatening. The crash remained under investigation.
