3 adults died (including 2 from western IA), another was injured, in a NW Missouri crash Saturday afternoon

(Nodaway County, MO.) – Three adults died and another was seriously injured, during a head-on collision Saturday afternoon in northwest Missouri. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s crash report, a 2026 Chevy Equinox driven by a 59-year-old woman from Cathage, TX, was traveling northbound on Highway b71, about 1.5-miles south of Burlington Junction (170th Street), when the vehicle crossed the center line of the highway and collided in the southbound lane, with a southbound 2026 Ford Explorer, driven by a 72-year-old male from Rockwell City, Iowa. The accident happened at around 1:25-p.m.

Both vehicles burst into flames and came to rest on their wheels on the traveled portion of the road. The driver of the Chevy died at the scene, along with a two passengers in the SUV: a 67-year-old woman from Harlan (IA) and a 76-year-old female from Rockwell City. The driver of the Explorer was flown to a hospital in Lincoln, NE.

All four of the crash victims were wearing seat belts. No names have been released as of the posting of this report.
