2 injured in a southern Iowa crash, Monday

(Decatur County, IA) – Two people were flown from the scene of a crash involving three vehicles, Monday morning in southern Iowa. The Iowa State Patrol reports the crash happened northwest of Leon, at around 4:36-a.m., when a pickup traveling east on Highway 2 struck the rear end of a car with its turn signal on that was waiting to turn north onto Lakeview Road.

The impact caused the car to be pushed into the westbound lane, with it collided head-on with a westbound semi tractor trailer. Two people in the car, 64-year-old Patty Malaython and 76-year-old Bounthieng Luke, both of Des Moines, were injured in the crash and flown by LifeFlight helicopter to Mercy One Hospital in Des Moines.
