(Monona County, IA) – Two people were injured during a head-on collision this (Wednesday) morning near Sloan. The Iowa State Patrol reports a 2012 Chrysler Town & Country van driven by 38-year-old Nichole AnnMarie Healey, of Dunlap, was traveling north in the southbound lane, for reasons unknown. A 2024 VW SUV driven by 57-year-old Lesley Ann Hubert, of Whiting, was traveling southbound in the southbound lane, when Healey tried to swerve before her van collided with the SUV.
The accident happened at around 8:30-a.m. at Monona County Road K45 & Cherry Avenue. The van came to rest facing southbound, while the SUV came to rest on its side in the east ditch, facing west.
Hubert was flown from the scene to Bergen Mercy Hospital, for treatment of serious injuries. Healey was transported by Burgess EMS to Burgess Hospital. The accident remains under investigation.
