2 fatal crashes in eastern Iowa Monday afternoon/evening

(State News) – Two separate crashes in eastern Iowa claimed two live and resulted in one person being injured The Iowa State Patrol reports a collision in Jones County at around 1:20-p.m. resulted in the death of one of the drivers. The Patrol says a 2012 Ford Fusion was traveling north on Highway 151, when for reasons unknown it crossed the median at Highway 1, and was struck broadside by a 2019 Chevy Colorado pickup, which was traveling south on Highway 151. One person died at the scene, while another was injured.

The second accident happened at around 6:20-p.m. in Benton County. The Iowa State Patrol’s report said a 2006 Chevy Silverado pickup and a 2026 Buick Regal driven by a 39-year-old from Cedar Rapids, were traveling east in the left lane of Highway 30 at 32nd Avenue, west of Cedar Rapids, when the pickup rear-ended the car. The impact caused the Buick to enter the south ditch. The pickup went out of control and traveled through the median before rolling several time and coming to rest.

The names of the victims in each crash were being withheld by the Patrol (as of this report), pending notification of family.
