(Clinton County, IA) – An accident involving a UTV (Utility Terrain Vehicle), Sunday afternoon in eastern Iowa, resulted in the deaths of two people.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, the accident happened at around 3:22-p.m. on private land located south of Highway 40, between Wheatland and Calamus. Authorities say a 2013 Polaris UTV left a trail and entered the south water course, flipping onto its top.
The operator of the machine died at the scene. A passenger was transported by ambulance to the Genesis Dewitt Hospital and pronounced deceased. Neither of the victims were wearing seat belts.
The names of the accident victims were being withheld by the State Patrol, pending notification of family. The Clinton County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene.
