A literary press in Cedar Falls is re-issuing a short story collection by an Iowa author 100 years after it first came out. Ruth Suckow (soo-KOH) filled her short stories “Iowa Interiors” with episodes of small-town life while living as a beekeeper in Earlville. New edition co-editor Julie Husband says Suckow was a nationally recognized writer and her the stories capture what Iowa agriculture looked like in 1926.
University of Northern Iowa English professor Jim O’Loughlin (oh-LOCK-lin) also helped edit the new edition. He says her original books are hard to find.
