(Clinton County, IA) – A single-vehicle crash in eastern Iowa Wednesday afternoon resulted in the death of the vehicle’s driver. The Iowa State Patrol reports the accident happened at around 4-p.m. on 190th Street, near DeWitt.
An investigation determined a 2018 Chevy Pacifica van was traveling westbound on 190th, just west of 280th Avenue, when the driver apparently had some sort of a medical episode. The van entered the south ditch,drove through a field, and collided with a house. Both the vehicle and residence became fully engulfed in flames.
The driver of the van died at the scene and was transported by Clinton County Ambulance to the State Medical Examiner’s Office, in Ankeny. The identity of the crash victim was not immediately released, and the crash remains under investigation.
Agencies assisting at the scene included the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office, and the DeWitt, Shelton and Charlotte Fire Departments, as well as the Clinton County Medical Examiner.
