1 dead, 3 injured in an eastern Iowa crash Sunday morning

(Keokuk County, IA) – A single-vehicle accident Sunday morning in eastern Iowa claimed one life and resulted in injuries to three other people. The Iowa State Patrol says the accident west of What Cheer, happened at around 1:05-a.m.

According to the report, a Cadillac SUV was traveling westbound in the 10,000-clock of 170th Street, when the vehicle left the road and struck a power pole. The SUV then rolled multiple times before coming to rest in the southbound ditch.

None of the crash victims were wearing their seat belts. One of the accident victims died at the scene. Two of the injured were transported by Keokuk County Ambulance to the Mahaska Hospital, while the third person was transported the Keokuk Health Center. Their names were being withheld pending further information and notification of family.

The Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Keokuk County Sheriff’s Office, What Cheer Fire and other agencies. The crash remained under investigation.
