For more than a quarter-century, Thriving Families Alliance, a state-designated early childhood board, has empowered families and built resilient communities across nine counties in Southwest Iowa. Specializing in primary prevention for families with children ages 0-5, Thriving Families Alliance strategically funds programs and organizations that boost protective factors, instill hope, and transform lives. Because early childhood offers the highest return on investment, our targeted contracts help prevent adverse childhood experiences while nurturing the positive, supportive environments every child needs to thrive.
Organizations receiving contracts include:
Nishna Valley YMCA – $98,000: Parents As Teachers evidence-based family support serving Cass County.
Harrison County Home and Public Health – $180,000: Parents As Teachers evidence-based family support serving Harrison County.
Burgess Health Center – $175,000: Parents As Teachers evidence-based family support serving Monona County.
Myrtue Medical Center – $99,000: Parents As Teachers evidence-based family support serving Shelby County.
Iowa State Extension and Outreach Fremont County – $66,500: Parents As Teachers evidence-based family support serving Fremont County.
Iowa State Extension and Outreach Page County – $71,245: Parents As Teachers evidence-based family support serving Page County.
Visiting Nurse Association of Pottawattamie County – $60,000: Project WIN family support serving Pottawattamie County.
MATURA Action – $7,000: Preschool oral health screenings and fluoride varnishes.
Southwest Iowa Families – $10,000: Dinosaur School, behavioral and social emotional supports in preschool classrooms.
Pottawattamie County WIC – $4,800: Little by Little program providing books and early literacy materials to children attending appointments.
Walnut Public Library – $14,400: Children’s Department improvements and enhancements to social emotional materials.
Reach Out And Read – $20,000: Coordination and books provided through well child visits in Cass and Pottawattamie Counties.
Burgess Health Center – $4,000: Bump to Backpack Community Event
Walnut Public Library — $14,400: Children’s Department improvements and enhancements to social emotional materials.
Southwest Iowa Families – $6,500: Car Seat Safety Program providing safety check stations and information in Montgomery, Page, and Fremont Counties.
Harrison County Home and Public Health – $5,000: Car Seat Safety Program providing safety check stations and information in Harrison County.

Child and Family Resource Network – $265,000: Collaboration and coordination of referrals, outreach, and marketing for family support in all 9 Southwest Iowa Counties.
Southwest/Northwest Iowa Regional Parents as Teachers Affiliates – $315,000: Affiliate administration and implementation of Parents as Teachers supervision and management.
