(Anita, IA) – Two Public Hearings are set to take place Monday, March 30th, att the CAM High School, in Anita. A hearing on the Proposed property tax dollar levy begins at 6:30-p.m. in CAM High School Media Center.
The levy – as proposed – calls for an increase in the levy, primarily due to declining enrollment, according to school officials. During the hearing, residents and taxpayers will have the opportunity to present oral or written comments, either in support of or opposition to the proposal.
The proposed property tax dollar levy totals $5,770,337 for FY2027, compared to $4,598,591 in the current fiscal year. The proposed overall tax rate is 11.82807, up from the current rate of 9.43897.
Under the proposal, a residential property with an actual value of $100,000 (assessed at $110,000) would see property taxes increase 29.24%. A commercial property valued at $300,000 would see taxes increase 39.05%. The estimates assume a 10% increase in property values compared to the current year.
Following the Property Tax Levy hearing, the CAM School Board will hold an additional hearing pertaining to the District’s proposed 2026-2027 Budget.
