(Audubon, IA) – Members of the Audubon Community School District’s Board of Education met in a regular session Monday evening. Superintendent Trevor Miller reports action items on the Board’s agenda passed, as follows:
A Resolution approving expenditures of funds in the Flexibility Account with the General Fund was approved and includes moving some of the categorical carry over to the general fund for expenses. It cannot be used for expenses until FY27 which begins on July 1st.
B) A Budget Guarantee Resolution. Superintendent Miller said “This I recommend done every year in case something changes and we would end up on budget guarantee: This year we had an increase in
enrollment and 2% SSA so won’t be on it, but this way if approved every year you don’t
have to worry.
C) The FY27 Calendar was approved with a start date of Aug. 24th and the first two days are early outs.
D) The Board approved a copier Lease. Miller said they are updating some of the District’s copier machines and adding another printer so that if one is down, there will be another main option.
E) A Service agreement with Relay for Medicaid Services was approved as presented.
F) Policy 705.01 Updating from $10,000 to $15,000 for authority to purchase to align with
the Federal Government. Anything over goes to the board and depending on the amount
goes to Competitive Bids. Recommend approving First Read and Final reading will
be in April.
G) The Board approved Rooftop Unit Replacements – Elementary and HS AC Gym. Those are the same units that were held-off from last year to save money in the District’s SAVE and PPE accounts.
H) The Audubon School Board approved also, front parking lot updates for the High School, to replace the two sections on the north side of the loop that are in bad shape that connect with the road. Miller says their goal is to update and replace areas every year and set a budget for each year.
In other action, the Audubon School Board approved work on the Bus Barn parking lot, for two areas that were not completed with the bus barn update and addition. The board approved also putting a slab under one of the softball sheds that had a skunk issue in the past. They approved replacing a missing piece of glass and update to the Trophy cabinet to make it look like the other two. Other action items included:
- An AEA Purchasing Agreement FY27: This is the agreement that we can belong to a consortium and receive discounted rates. This is approved every year.
- An agreement with Josten’s for the Yearbook.
- FY27 Teacher agreement which is a 3.02% increase and was approved by the Teacher’s Union

Trevor Miller notes if teachers are in one of these lanes, this is the increase they will receive. There are no longer steps. With the state compacting everyone the past two years this is the start to separate the individuals who have additional degrees. Insurance also went up 7.29%. - Fy27 Support Staff raises were approved by the Board, calling for anywhere from $.25 to $1.50 an hour. This is to get years of service and degrees etc in order.
- Fy27 SBO Contract was approved and includes a 3.5% raise based on increased workload with the two districts, additional meetings, state requirements etc. Mr. Miller notes the sharing agreement with Exira-EHK ends on June 30, 2027 so that will need to be discussed in the fall for 27-28 etc school year along with all sharing agreements as this will be year two of two of the contract.
- FY27 ILGRP Agreement was approved: This is a Natural Gas Consortium that allows the District to take out of management instead of the general fund. Miller says they have received a refund 3 of the past 4 years if we use less than expected.

b) Randy Spies -Custodian
c) Jeanne Nelson- Cook
d) Bailey Kuehl – Music Teacher
e) Tony Santisteban – Assistant Track Coach
2) Resignations
a) Tony Konkler – Asst Football.
