KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) – Alex Smith threw for 171 yards and two touchdowns in less than a half, and the Kansas City Chiefs’ offense looked the sharpest it has all preseason in a weather-shortened 34-10 victory over the Tennessee Titans on Friday night.

The game was called with 3 minutes, 50 seconds remaining after thunder rumbled and lightning streaked across the sky. Heavy rains had turned one end zone into a lake.

Smith was 16 of 18 before giving way to third-string quarterback Aaron Murray just before halftime. Murray played the rest of the game for the Chiefs (3-0), throwing for 146 yards with two touchdown passes and an interception as backup Chase Daniel got the night off.

Marcus Mariota got off to a slow start for Tennessee (1-2), misfiring on his first three throws. But the first-round pick out of Oregon was 7 of 8 for 99 yards the rest of the half.

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) – Rookie Kelby Tomlinson lined a bases-loaded single up the middle with one out in the ninth against previously unbeaten Kevin Siegrist, and the San Francisco Giants topped the Cardinals 5-4 on Friday night to snap St. Louis’ five-game winning streak.

Left fielder Brandon Moss grabbed another glove from the dugout and moved in to make a five-man infield, then Tomlinson found a hole against Siegrist (5-1).

Marlon Byrd hit a grand slam off 15-game winner Michael Wacha in the third inning for the Giants, who kept pace 2 1-2 games behind NL West-leading Los Angeles.

Javier Lopez (1-0) got Moss to line out to second in the ninth and Tomlinson quickly fired to first to double up Stephen Piscotty, who was off the bag.

Byrd’s eighth career grand slam gave the Giants eight for the season, a franchise record. Byrd last hit one on July 9, 2013, while with the Mets facing the Giants at AT&T Park.

PHOENIX (AP) – Brandon Moss hit his first home run with St. Louis and Tony Cruz hit his first of the season, leading the Cardinals to a 5-3 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks on Thursday night to complete a four-game sweep.

It was the Cardinals’ fifth straight win overall and they finished 7-0 against the Diamondbacks this season.

Moss’s tiebreaking two-run shot in the fifth inning off starter Rubby De La Rosa (11-6) put the Cardinals ahead 5-3.

Carlos Martinez (13-6) earned the win with six innings of four-hit ball, allowing three runs and striking out six with two walks.

The Diamondbacks loaded the bases on three walks issued by Cardinals reliever Steve Cishek to open the bottom of eighth, but Seth Maness struck out David Peralta, Welington Castillo and got Jake Lamb to roll out to first to end the threat.

Trevor Rosenthal got the last three outs for his 41st save.

The AHSTW Vikings travelled to Audubon last night to face the Wheelers in the 3rd Annual Channel Seed Ag Bowl.  It was a back and forth tight ballgame with all of the lead changes coming in the fourth quarter.  Matthew Smith-Petersen scored from 15 yards out late in the fourth quarter and the Wheelers hung on for a 26-21 win.
