The Atlantic girls basketball team is getting revved up for the 2020-21 season and bring a wealth of returning experience to the table.  5 of the top 7 scorers return for a team that went 9-14 last season and Head Coach Dan Vargason says their mentality in practice shows a commitment to improvement.

Top scorer Haley Rasmussen returns for her senior season and will look to build off a 17 point per game average. Rasmussen shot 41% from the field and 33% from 3-point range despite garnering a lot of attention from opposing defenses. Coach Vargason says Rasmussen continues to work hard and he expects others to step up when she gets the defensive attention.

The Trojans will be replacing two senior starters in McKenzie Waters and Corri Pelzer but Coach Vargason thinks they have a good mix of players to step up and fill important roles.

Atlantic was scheduled to open the season next Tuesday night at home against Denison-Schleswig but that game has now been postponed. We’ll have coverage of the Trojans when their season opens.
