2 injured in N.W. Iowa collision, Saturday night

A semi hauling a piece of farm equipment struck an SUV Saturday night in O’Brien County, injuring two people in the SUV. The Iowa State Patrol reports the accident happened at around 7:11-p.m. on Highway 10, east of Granville. The Patrol says the 2015 Peterbilt semi was eastbound and the 2014 GMC Acadia was westbound, when the collision occurred. The 41-year old driver of the SUV, Michelle Swarz, of Paullina, was transported to the Orange City Hospital and later flown to Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, for treatment of life threatening injuries.

A 13-year old male passenger in the SUV was transported to the Orange City Hospital for treatment of possible/minor injuries. The 48-year old driver of the semi and two passengers were not injured. The semi is registered to Eisma Express, Inc., of Ireton, IA.

The O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office and an Iowa Motor Vehicle Enforcement Officer assisted the patrol at the scene.
