ATLANTIC, Iowa – Aug. 3, 2020 – A pavement patching project on Iowa Highway 83/Second Avenue from the west city limits to Poplar Street, in Atlantic, will require lane closures and closure of some side streets during work hours beginning on Thursday, Aug. 6, until Thursday, Aug. 13, weather permitting.

The Iowa Department of Transportation’s Creston construction office says Ten Point Construction is the prime contractor for this project. Traffic will be controlled by flaggers and a pilot car. Motorists should expect some delays.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
