(Radio Iowa) – Iowa Senator Joni Ernst says it has not been an easy task trying to get a bill allowing year-round sales of E-15 gasoline passed. “We’re getting a lot of resistance in the Senate. This is not a Republican versus Democrat issue. It most certainly is an oil refinery versus ethanol producer issue,” she says.
The Republican from Red Oak says the bill is needed to help farmers. “We must see E-15 done this year. Our farmers really need this. We want to make sure that consumers are seeing lower prices at the pump and we can do that with ethanol,” Ernst says.
The U-S House recently passed its bill to allow E-15 to be sold year-round in every state.
