Wet weather has kept farmers from getting into the fields to start the harvest. Coggon farmer Louis Zumbach has seen anywhere from six to eight of rain on his eastern Iowa fields. Zumbach tells K-C-R-G T-V he was in the field by September 12th last year, but the rains have kept the combine in the shed so far this year.
Zumbach is pulling equipment he hasn’t needed in years.
Zumbach hopes to start harvesting Friday. He’s weeks behind, and other farmers across eastern Iowa are in the same boat – but he’s not panicking yet.
Zumbach says. He reminds drivers when harvest season begins to slow down and be aware of farm equipment on the roads.
