Utility vehicles are playing a larger role on many crop and livestock farms.
John Deere go-to-market manager for Gator utility vehicles Eric Halfman says technology is driving on-farm decisions.
“And it doesn’t have to be the most advanced technology that’s out there, but a lot of that technology is unlocked by having boundaries driven (by UTV’s) and into the Operation Center.”
Speaking to Brownfield during a tour of Deere’s Horicon Works manufacturing facility in Horicon, Wisconsin, he said UTV’s are being used for spraying.
“Folks are rate controlling and section controlling. We have customers spraying thousands and thousands of acres with tow-behind sprayers behind their Gator utility vehicles because they can get in the fields earlier. They can get into smaller places with those particular products as well.”
Halfman says productivity and efficiency gains are focal points in the UTV segment.
