III. Recruitment Initiatives
1. Atlantic School-To-Work Program
Interested students were given the chance to learn about radio through the Atlantic High School program. In addition to industry information, students were given the chance to receive training and experience in programming, news, sports, sales, marketing, promotion and technology. General Manager Jim Field spoke to 8th grade TAG class about broadcast, writing and photography opportunities on station web site.
2. Atlantic High School Career Day
Staff spoke with students from Atlantic High School during career event at school. General Manager Jim Field served as interviewer for mock job interview program for junior high school students in February, 2006.
3. Internship Program
Employed 4 local high school students and trained them to perform on-air duties. Those duties include EAS operation, meter readings, transmitter operation, news, public affairs and programming. These students work under the direction of program director Matthew Leaf and news director Ric Hanson.
4. Adult Internship Program
Employed 4 adults from the community and trained them to perform on-air duties. Those duties include EAS operation, meter readings, transmitter operation, news, public affairs and programming. These individuals work under the direction of program director Matthew Leaf and news director Ric Hanson.
5. Professional Training
Sent account executives Becky Mosier and Daryl Armstrong to Iowa Broadcasters Association sales training in June, 2006. Sent General Manager Jim Field to Iowa Broadcasters Association meetings in June, 2006 for training. Jim Field attedned National Association of Broadcasters State Leadership Conference in Washington, DC in March, 2006. News Director Ric Hanson attended 2006 Northwest Broadcast News Association Conference in St. Paul, MN. Ric Hanson attended 2006 Iowa Broadcast News Association Conference. Ric Hansen attended 2006 Associated Press News Training Conference in Kansas City, MO in September, 2006.

7. Mentoring Programs
Employ a full-time Sales Training Manager to help new account executives with training and career counseling.
8. Student Web casting (www.AtlanticSportsFan.com)
Site allows students to learn how to broadcast, write and photograph sporting events involving Atlantic area youth. Currently, three students are working with station sports director Jim Field to learn broadcasting skills and are broadcasting events. One other student islearning writing and photography skills.
