Welcome to the kjan.com STAFF PAGE! At KJAN, we are all about our staff. We have assembled, what we believe, is the finest, most dedicated staff in all of radio. Not only are these people professional at every turn, but they care about the community. Many of our staff members can be found at meetings and events in the area as volunteers and board members. Radio may have changed over time but our mission hasn't....we still strive to provide the best local radio possible, not just on the air, but in the community! These people make it happen!

 

JIM FIELD
GENERAL MANAGER


Jim came to KJAN in 1988 as News & Sports Director. He is still the station's local play-by-play sports voice and assists with the news department. He also hosts a daily show, "Heartbeat Today." Jim is very active in community groups and organizations, and is a member of the Iowa Broadcasters Association Board of Directors. Jim and his wife, Deb, live in Atlantic.

LAVON EBLEN
HOST, "BACKYARD & BEYOND"


LaVon joined KJAN in July of 1997 as the host of the newly created program, "Backyard & Beyond." Prior to that, LaVon had a long career with the Iowa State University Extension service in Audubon and Cass counties, serving as Extension Director and Home Economist. LaVon graduated from Iowa State University and is active in several community organizations. LaVon and her husband, Fay, live in a remodeled schoolhouse north of Atlantic.

CHRIS PARKS
PROGRAM DIRECTOR

Chris joined KJAN in February, 2007.  He is originally from Glenwood and graduated from the University of Nebraska, Kearney with a bachelor of science degree in broadcasting. Chris enjoys playing golf, basketball, fishing and the outdoors. He is a big sports fan and follows the Iowa State Cyclones and Kansas City Chiefs.  Listen to Chris weekdays from 6:00 am - 12:00 pm.

ROD CHRISTENSEN
MARKETING CONSULTANT


Rod joined KJAN in September of 1992. His duties include helping local businesses to develop advertising campaigns designed to help them effectively reach the southwest Iowa consumer. Rod and his wife, Ruth, live in Atlantic.with sons Seth and Chad. They also have an adult daughter, Misty.

RIC HANSON
NEWS DIRECTOR


Ric came to KJAN in 1995 after graduating from Grand View College in Des Moines with a bachelor of arts degree in radio/television. Ric works tirelessly in the newsroom to keep southwest Iowans up-to-date on current happenings. Listen to Ric's newscasts daily at 6:30 am, 7:05 am, 8:00 am, 9:00 am and noon.  Ric lives in Atlantic.

BECKY MOSIER

MARKETING CONSULTANT

Out of the kitchen and into the fire!  Becky came to us in August of 2005 after 17 years as a cook at Lewis Elementary School.  She now helps her clients "get cooking" by helping them spread their message on KJAN.  Becky, and her husband, Jon have two sons, Lucas and Tyler.  They live in Lewis.

JOHN BEHRENS

MUSIC DIRECTOR / AFTERNOON HOST

John started at KJAN in January, 2007 as a part-time announcer.  He joined the full-time staff in July, 2008.  John grew up in southwest Iowa, and graduated from the Coon Rapids-Bayard school district in 1984.  John and his wife, Elsa, have lived in Atlantic since 1998.  They have two daughters, Page and Alyssa, and a son, Joel.  You can listen to John weekday afternoons from 1:00 to 7:00 on KJAN!

STACIE HARTMANN

RECEPTIONIST/TRAFFIC DIRECTOR

Stacie joined KJAN in April 2009. She is originally from Griswold and now lives in Atlantic. She enjoys cooking, watching movies, and spending time with her family and friends. You can hear Stacie Monday-Saturday at 9:25 am as she hosts the "Daily Diary". She joins Jim Field on Saturday at 5:30 pm and Sunday at 7:00 am for "This Is Your Nishna Valley".
