…The National Weather Service in Omaha has issued a flood warning

for the following river in Iowa…

West Nishnabotna River Near Riverton affecting Fremont County until further notice.

East Nishnabotna River At Riverton affecting Fremont County until further notice.

* TORNADO WARNING FOR…

SOUTHWESTERN PAGE COUNTY IN SOUTHWESTERN IOWA…

SOUTHEASTERN FREMONT COUNTY IN SOUTHWESTERN IOWA…

* UNTIL 400 PM CDT

* AT 333 PM CDT…A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM CAPABLE OF PRODUCING A

TORNADO WAS LOCATED 8 MILES SOUTHEAST OF RIVERTON…OR 11 MILES

NORTH OF TARKIO…MOVING EAST AT 25 MPH.

HAZARD…TORNADO.

SOURCE…RADAR INDICATED ROTATION.

IMPACT…FLYING DEBRIS WILL BE DANGEROUS TO THOSE CAUGHT WITHOUT

SHELTER. MOBILE HOMES WILL BE DAMAGED OR DESTROYED.

DAMAGE TO ROOFS…WINDOWS AND VEHICLES WILL OCCUR. TREE

DAMAGE IS LIKELY.

PAGE COUNTY IN SOUTHWESTERN IOWA…

FREMONT COUNTY IN SOUTHWESTERN IOWA…

* UNTIL 600 PM CDT

* AT 307 PM CDT…DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED A CLUSTER OF THUNDERSTORMS

PRODUCING HEAVY RAIN ACROSS THE WARNED AREA. RAINFALL AMOUNTS UP

TO ONE INCH HAVE BEEN ESTIMATED BY RADAR WITH THESE STORMS. FLASH

FLOODING IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN SHORTLY.

ADDITIONAL RAINFALL AMOUNTS OF 1 TO 2 INCHES ARE POSSIBLE IN THE

WARNED AREA AS ADDITIONAL STORMS MOVE ACROSS THE AREA.

A FEW TORNADOES POSSIBLE; SCATTERED LARGE HAIL AND ISOLATED VERY LARGE HAIL EVENTS TO 2 INCHES IN DIAMETER POSSIBLE; SCATTERED DAMAGING WIND GUSTS TO 70 MPH POSSIBLE

SUMMARY…SUPERCELL THUNDERSTORMS ARE EXPECTED TO FORM OVER SOUTHEAST NEB AND TRACK EASTWARD ACROSS THE WATCH AREA THIS AFTERNOON. LARGE HAIL AND DAMAGING WINDS ARE THE MAIN THREATS. HOWEVER…AN ISOLATED STORM OR TWO COULD PRODUCE TORNADOES. THE TORNADO WATCH AREA IS APPROXIMATELY ALONG AND 65 STATUTE MILES EAST AND WEST OF A LINE FROM 70 MILES NORTHEAST OF SHENANDOAH IOWA TO 25 MILES WEST SOUTHWEST OF FALLS CITY NEBRASKA.

* WIDESPREAD THUNDERSTORMS WILL BE CAPABLE OF PRODUCING HEAVY RAIN TODAY INTO TONIGHT…WITH TOTAL RAINFALL AMOUNTS RANGING FROM 2 TO 4 INCHES AND LOCALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS CERTAINLY POSSIBLE.

* RAINFALL RATES AS HIGH AS TWO INCHES PER HOUR AT TIMES MAY LEAD
TO FLASH FLOODING AND RISES IN AREA RIVERS. PORTIONS OF THE DES
MOINES AND RACCOON RIVER BASINS AND TRIBUTARIES MAY BE IMPACTED

EARLY EVENING WILL BRING THE RISK OF FLASH FLOODING…ESPECIALLY
IF STORMS TRACK OVER AREAS THAT RECEIVED HEAVY RAINFALL
OVERNIGHT INTO THIS MORNING.

AREA STREAMS…CREEKS…AND RIVERS MAY REACH OR EXCEED BANKFULL.
FLOODING MAY OCCUR IN LOW WATER SPOTS PRONE TO

Flood Warning: Nodaway River at Clarinda

The National Weather Service in Omaha has issued a flood warning for the Nodaway River At Clarinda, affecting Page County. The warning is in effect from this evening to Friday evening…or until the warning is cancelled.
* At 11:00 AM Thursday the stage was 16.3 feet…or 6.7 feet below
flood stage.
* Flood stage is 23.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast…rise above flood stage by this evening and continue to
rise to near 23.5 feet by after midnight tomorrow the river will
fall below flood stage by early tomorrow.
* Impact…at 24.0 feet…Additional lowlands, some farmlands, and
county roads flood.

* AT 934 AM CDT…DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED HEAVY RAIN DUE TO
THUNDERSTORMS MOVING THROUGH THE AREA. THIS IS IN AN AREA THAT
RECEIVED VERY HEAVY RAINFALL YESTERDAY EVENING. THIS MAY CAUSE
URBAN AND SMALL STREAM FLOODING IN THE ADVISORY AREA.
