October 26th, 2020 by admin

IRVING, Texas – Iowa State sophomore running back Breece Hall was honored by the Big 12 Conference for his performance vs. Oklahoma State on Saturday, earning Co-Offensive Player of the Week accolades from the league office.

It was the second weekly award for Hall this season.

A native of Wichita, Kan., Hall continued his push for national awards by rushing for a career-high 185 yards vs. one of the top defenses in the nation at No. 6 Oklahoma State.

Hall averaged 9.2 yards per carry and galloped for a 66-yard touchdown run, his ninth rushing touchdown of the season to rank third in the nation. Hall also had a 70-yard run and caught four passes in the contest.

DENVER (AP) — The Kansas City Chiefs didn’t need quarterback Patrick Mahomes’ usual heroics to beat the Denver Broncos for the 10th consecutive time Sunday. Mahomes threw for just 200 yards and a touchdown in the Chiefs’ 43-16 win on a snowy, freezing day in Denver. But the Chiefs were never really threatened as they got touchdowns on special teams, defense and on the ground in taking a 24-9 halftime lead. The Chiefs forced four turnovers in winning for the sixth consecutive time in Denver. And Le’Veon Bell had a successful debut for Kansas City by running six times for 39 yards.

GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) — Pittsburgh is now the NFL’s only unbeaten team following Seattle’s 37-34 overtime loss at Arizona. Zane Gonzalez made a 48-yard field goal with 20 seconds left in OT after drilling a 44-yard field goal as regulation expired. The Seahawks led 34-24 until Christian Kirk caught an 8-yard touchdown pass with 2:28 left.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — The Pittsburgh Steelers held on to win a battle of the AFC’s last two undefeated teams. Ben Roethlisberger (RAWTH’-lis-bur-gur) threw two touchdown passes to Diontae Johnson while the Steelers were building a 27-7 lead in a 27-24 win over the Titans in Tennessee. The Titans scored 17 unanswered points in the second half and were in position to force overtime until Stephen Gostkowski missed wide right from 45 yards with 14 seconds left.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Tom Brady threw for four touchdowns and ran for a fifth as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers outscored the Oakland Raiders, 45-20. Brady’s final scoring strike moved him ahead of Drew Brees (breez) for the most in NFL history, hours after the Saints QB threw for a pair. Brady finished 33 for 45 for 369 yards for the 5-2 Bucs.

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — The Los Angeles Dodgers have a three-games-to-two lead in the World Series following a 4-2 win over the Tampa Bay Rays. Joc Pederson and Max Muncy hit solo homers to support Clayton Kershaw, who allowed two runs and five hits over 5 2/3 innings to pick up his second win of the series. Kershaw was helped out when Manuel Margot (mahn-WEHL’ mahr-GOH’) was thrown out trying to steal home.

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) — The Denver Broncos have made a series of roster moves on the eve of their game against the Kansas City Chiefs. The Broncos activated three players who have been on injured reserve. They are cornerback A.J. Bouye and D-linemen Dre’Mont Jones and DeMarcus Walker. Boyue had been on IR since suffering a shoulder injury in the season opener. Walker and Jones got hurt in Week 2. The Broncos also promoted two players off their practice squad. They promoted inside linebacker Nigel Bradham and running back Jeremy Cox. Bradham is a ninth-year pro who played the last four seasons in Philadelphia.

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) — Sophomore receiver David Bell caught three touchdown passes, including the game winner, to guide the Purdue Boilermakers to a 24-20 victory over Iowa. STILLWATER, Okla. (AP) — Spencer Sanders passed for 235 yards and ran for 71, and No. 6 Oklahoma State defeated No. 17 Iowa State 24-21. With the win, Oklahoma State joined Kansas State as the only remaining undefeated teams in conference play. Iowa State’s Breece Hall ran for a career-high 185 yards. The Cyclones vaulted onto the national radar by beating Oklahoma earlier in the month and were seeking their first 4-0 start in league play.

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Quarterback Justin Fields completed 20 of 21 passes for two touchdowns and ran for another as No. 5 Ohio State rolled over Nebraska 52-17. The Buckeyes dominated the Huskers in the second half in the Big Ten teams’ pandemic-delayed opener.. Running back Master Teague II also ran for two touchdowns as Ohio State piled up 498 yards of offense. The Ohio State defense took most of the first half to figure out a way to contain slippery Cornhuskers quarterback Adrian Martinez, who marched the Huskers down for a touchdown in the opening 2 minutes of the game.

MANHATTAN, Kan. (AP) — Phillip Brooks returned a pair of punts for touchdowns, Kansas State took advantage of an embarrassing day of special teams by its biggest rival, and the No. 20 Wildcats rolled to a 55-14 victory over Kansas on Saturday. Will Howard threw for 243 yards and two touchdowns while Justin Gardner returned an interception 25 yards for another score, helping the Wildcats (4-1) improve to 4-0 in the Big 12 for the first time since 2014. Deuce Vaughn added 71 yards rushing and another touchdown as Kansas State beat the Jayhawks (0-5, 0-4) for a series-record 12th straight time. Kansas has not beaten its Interstate 70 rival since Nov. 1, 2008, in Lawrence.
