The Cass County Board of Supervisors won’t meet until March 14th, but their counterparts in Adair County have a regular meeting set for tomorrow (Wednesday). On the agenda for their 9-a.m. meeting at the courthouse in Greenfield, is a Year of Service Awards and Coffee before the start of business at 9:30-a.m., during which there will be a Public Hearing on the Fiscal Year 2019 Adair County Budget. The Board will also act on a FY2019 Compensation Resolution, a Resolution to approve the FY 2019 budget, and a SICOG (Southern Iowa Council of Governments) resolution.

In other business, County Treasurer Brenda Wallace will present a Tax Sale Deed, and County Engineer Nick Kauffmann will present RCB (concrete box) Culvert replacement project contracts for signing. The Adair County Supervisors will then adjourn into a closed session to discuss the purchase of two parcels of real estate.

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (AP) — The City Council in Sioux City has voted to support those who want to open a medical marijuana oil dispensary in the northwest Iowa city. The council voted 4-1 Monday to send a letter of support to the Iowa Public Health Department, which intends to award licenses for up to five such dispensaries across the state.

The company MedPharm has been approved to sell medical marijuana in Iowa and had requested the Sioux City letter of support. The council instead decided to include support for any entity willing to do business with the city for a dispensary. Patients and primary caregivers with valid medical cannabidiol registration cards would be obtain the oil at the dispensaries.

HAMPTON, Iowa (AP) — The next sex abuse trial of a Charles City man is scheduled to be moved to Mason City in Cerro Gordo County. On Friday a judge set the trial of 62-year-old Doug Lindaman to begin April 9. Lindaman was convicted in 2016 of sexually abusing a 17-year-old boy in 2011. The Iowa Supreme Court later vacated the conviction, because Lindaman was allowed to represent himself without knowingly waiving his right to an attorney. Lindaman was running for a school board spot when arrested in 2015.

A mistrial in his second trial was declared Feb. 26 after two prosecution witnesses violated court instructions by referring to Lindaman’s criminal record. His second trial had been moved to Franklin County from Floyd County because of pretrial publicity.

Police in Glenwood report the arrest on Monday, of 39-year old Joseph Jack.  The Glenwood man was taken into custody for Forgery.

The Pottawattamie County Sheriff’s Office reports a man was arrested on a Theft charge, Monday night. Officials say a Deputy responded to a residence in the 200 block of Walnut Street, where three portable electronic devices where stolen. 39-year old Jason Wayne Anderson, of Walnut, was arrested for 2nd Degree Theft.  And, 31-year old Phillip Houston, of Walnut, was arrested Monday night, for Domestic Assault, after a domestic disturbance occurred at a residence in the 700 block of Atlantic Street, in Walnut. His 34-year old girlfriend was not injured during the incident, according to the report.

A traffic stop on a vehicle traveling on the wrong side of a two-lane highway, Saturday morning, resulted in the arrest of a man on an OWI/1st Offense charge. 27-year old Joshua Michael Reicks, of Council Bluffs, was taken into custody at around 2:40-a.m. 46-year old Jim Wayne Metzger, of Crescent, was arrested a little after 4-p.m. Saturday, on a charge of Driving While Barred. And, at around 8:50-p.m. Saturday, 50-year old David Lester Dunsdon, of Council Bluffs, was arrested during a traffic stop, on a warrant charging him with two-counts of Fraudulent practices by counterfeiting or forgery.

Early Sunday morning, a Pott. County Deputy was dispatched to a residence in Avoca, after authorities received a report of a missing person. 30-year old Jennifer Dawn Mericle, of Avoca, was arrested a couple of hours later, for OWI/1st offense. A man showing signs of impairment following a traffic stop early Sunday morning in Pott. County, was arrested for OWI/1st Offense. 24-year old Connor Andrew Peck, of Council Bluffs, was arrested at around 3-a.m.

One person was arrested at around 8:20-p.m. Sunday, and warrants were applied for with regard to three other individuals, following an incident that occurred outside a residence on Cypress Avenue, in Council Bluffs. Authorities say 21-year old Mikala Michelle Desantiago, of Council Bluffs, was arrested for Criminal Mischief in the 2nd Degree/Destruction or Vandalism of Property. Criminal Mischief in the 2nd Degree warrants were requested for 26-year old Tyler Ryan Doty, 38-year old Joseph Therlou Abrams, and 19-year old Dillon Brandon James Miedl, all of Council Bluffs. Sheriff’s Officials allege the group was responsible for damage to a 2005 Chrysler Town and Country van, and 1998 Toyota Avalon. The vehicles sustained smashed windows. A garage door also sustained damage to a decorative glass panel. The damage was estimated at $1,050.
