Iowa Cubs executive on six game series in the minors

Sports

May 4th, 2022 by Ric Hanson

Iowa Cubs President and General Manager Sam Bernabe says he has warmed up to a six games series. The new format debuted a year ago during the pandemic to reduce travel and returned this season. Series run Tuesday through Sunday and Monday’s are always an off day.

Bernabe says the format has helped reduce travel headaches for the team.

Bernabe believes regular off days are good for the players.

The I-Cubs opened an International League series in St. Paul last night (Tuesday night), with a 7-to 3 win.

Breece Hall on becoming a New York Jet

Sports

May 4th, 2022 by Ric Hanson

Breece Hall says he is ready to show the New York Jets that he is a three down back. The former Iowa State star was taken by the Jets in the second round of the NFL Draft after a Cyclone career that included being named Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year twice.

Hall joins a New York running back group that includes Michael Carter, who rushed for 639 yards and had 325 of receiving as a rookie.

Hall was known for his consistency at ISU and plans to take that into the NFL.
