The NCAA Track and Field Outdoor Championships will be held June 8-11th  in Eugene, Oregon and Atlantic native Gratt Reed will be competing in two events for the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Reed will be in the 110M Hurdle field and is also part of the Iowa 4x100M Relay team. Both events will take place with prelims on Wednesday and finals on Friday.

After qualifying for the NCAA Indoor Championships and finishing as a second-team All-American in the 60-meter hurdles in February, Reed punched a ticket to the NCAA Outdoor Championships in Eugene. The Atlantic, Iowa, native’s time of 13.75 from the West Regional has him seeded 24th in the country and has a career-best time of 13.67. This year marks the seventh-consecutive season the Hawkeyes have had at least one high hurdler at the NCAA Final site – every year of the Joey Woody era. Reed will also run the third leg of Iowa’s 4×100-meter relay (39.56) that enters the week as the No. 23 seed. The relay is the ninth-consecutive men’s 4×100-meter team to qualify to the NCAA Final site.

The John Deere Classic has always been known for giving young players an early chance to compete in a PGA Tour event and this year is no different. Tournament Director Clair Peterson says the Tournament has provided three players with bright futures sponsor exemptions to this month’s event.

Two college stars are are also on the list.

Peterson says young players often become immediate stars on the tour.

The JDC is June 30th through July third in the Quad Cities.
