Health officials in Pottawattamie County today (Monday) confirmed the first local case of COVID-19. Additional information is expected during a press conference at 5-p.m. Looks for an update after that on kjan.com.

Pottawattamie County Emergency Management officials report The City of Carson is currently under a water boil order until Wednesday, March 11th. The Boil Advisory is a precaution due to low water pressure. All residents are encouraged to boil water or use bottled water for consumption.

(Radio Iowa) — The Iowa Attorney General’s Office is warning Iowans about looming scams involving bogus U-S Census takers. This year, for the first time, Iowans will be able to respond to the census online — or by phone or by mail. If you don’t use any of those options, someone may knock on your door in the weeks to come.

Legitimate census workers will have a photo I-D from the U.S. Department of Commerce and if you’re still not sure, call the bureau’s 800-number to verify who they are.

Don’t answer emails from what may look like the census as you won’t be sent unsolicited emails. Also, callers, mailers and people at your door from the REAL census won’t ask for your Social Security number or any personal banking information.

The Mills County Sheriff’s Office today (Monday), said there were five arrests and one motorcycle accident over the past few days. Taken into custody Sunday night for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, was 65-year old Harold Arthur Hart and 42-year old Christy June Studey, both of Red Oak, along with 45-year old Shawn Bernard  Studey, a homeless man. He was also charged with Possession of Contraband. The trio was arrested at around 10:05-p.m. following a traffic stop on Highway 34, in Mills County.

Christy Studey and Harold Hart were held on $300 bond. Shawn Studey was held on a $5,00 bond. Arrested on separate charges Sunday afternoon, was 42-year old Sean Michael Gochenour, of Council Bluffs, for Theft in the 1st Degree, two counts of Theft in the 5th, and On-going Criminal Conduct. Bond was set at $35,600.

And on Friday, 19-year old Nathan Edward Lee Richardson, of Malvern, was arrested at the Mills County Sheriff’s Office, on a warrant for Failure to Appear, and Violation of Probation. Bond was set at $6,000.

Authorities said also, 47-year old Justin Doering, of Plattsmouth, NE., was transported by Glenwood Rescue, to Jenny Edmundson Hospital, following a motorcycle accident at around 12:49-p.m. Saturday, on 230th Street. Doering was riding his 2019 Harley Davidson northbound and traversing a curve to the right, when the cycle lost traction and went out of control. The cycle laid over to the left and slid into a ditch. Doering was wearing a helmet, which hit the pavement when the accident occurred.

The Adair County Sheriff’s Office reports four people were arrested March 1st, in Stuart.

• 32-year old Lee Delmar Goll, of Stuart, was arrested for Possession of a short barrel rifle, after Officers with the Toldeo (IA) Police Department assisted by the Adair County Sheriff’s Deputies, executed a search warrant at 1380 Stuart Road. The rifle was discovered in the basement. Goll admitted knowing the illegally modified weapon was in his home. He was also charged with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, after a glass pipe was discovered in his garage. The pipe is typically used to smoke marijuana. The search warrant had been obtained Feb. 29th, with regard to stolen property obtained by the Toledo (IA) Police Department. Goll was released on a $5,000 cash or surety bond, the same day.
• 34-year old Rachel Anne Johnson, of Stuart, was located inside the same home and arrested for Violation of a No Contact Order. Lee Goll was the party protected by the court order. Johnson told police Goll was only there to drop off their children. She was later released on $300 bond.
• 28-year old Melissa Rose Canova, of Ankeny, was arrested for Possession of Methamphetamine, after the aforementioned search warrant was conducted in Stuart. She was staying in a camper on the property. A search of the camper resulted in the recovery of drug paraphernalia, and suspected meth in small plastic containers.  Canova was released later that same day on a $2,000 cash or surety bond, with 10% acceptable.
• And, 37-year old Trevor Randall Johnson, of Windsor Heights, was arrested at the same location, for being a felon in possession of a firearm, after two .25-caliber automatic handguns and ammunition were found on a counter in the camper where he and Canova were staying. Trevor was released on a $5,000 cash or surety bond later that day.
