IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) — Peter Jok scored 20 of his 27 points in the first half and Iowa cruised to a 95-67 win over Texas Rio Grande Valley on Sunday. Tyler Cook scored 15 points and Isaiah Moss had a career-high 14 for the Hawkeyes (3-1), who shot 51 percent from the field and scored 41 points off 26 Vaqueros turnovers.

Jok, Iowa’s top scorer, left a few minutes into the second half after a collision with a defender at the rim. Jok stayed in to shoot his two free throws, but did not play after that. He went to the locker room for a couple minutes before returning to the bench.

Jok was 9-of-13 shooting, including 5-of-8 3-pointers, in 19 minutes. Antonio Green scored 17 points to lead UTRGV (0-4), which out-rebounded Iowa 43-38. The Hawkeyes went on a 26-7 run in the middle of the game to pull away from the Vaqueros. Iowa’s Brady Ellingson scored 11 points. Iowa forward Dale Jones did not play after suffering a fractured wrist on Thursday against Seton Hall. Jones is expected to miss 8-9 weeks.

AMES, Iowa (AP) — Iowa State’s Monte Morris notched the fifth triple-double in school history and 20th-ranked Iowa State throttled The Citadel 130-63 on Sunday, setting a program record for points in a game.

Morris had 17 points, 10 rebounds, 10 assists and zero turnovers for Iowa State (3-0), which shot 60.5 percent from the floor. The Cyclones held the Bulldogs (2-2) — who entered play averaging a national-best 112.2 points a game — to just 22 in the first half.

Iowa State jumped ahead 18-3 and pushed its lead to 32 after just 14 minutes.

Iowa State cracked 100 with 11 minutes left, and coach Steve Prohm was able to pull Morris from the game with 7:46 left so Morris should get a standing ovation.

Quayson Williams had 15 for the Bulldogs.
