A strong cold front remains on track to push through the state Friday morning and bring blustery west to northwest winds by the afternoon. The National Weather Service in Des Moines reports the blustery winds look to persist Friday night and throughout the day Saturday. Wind gusts as high as 40 to 45 mph are possible by Saturday. A few showers are possible during the day Friday. Then by Friday night, temperatures drop into the 30s, some locations over western Iowa will drop to below freezing, and the combination of the strong winds and cold temperatures will produce wind chills in the teens and 20s by Saturday morning. More freezing temperatures are forecast by Sunday morning.
