Atlantic girls come up short against Creston on Senior Night

The Atlantic girls basketball team played a strong game on Monday night but ultimately couldn’t come away with a victory. The Trojans fell to the Creston Panthers 65-59. Atlantic was down three at the end of the first quarter but played a solid game on both ends of the floor to lead 30-26 at halftime. The Panthers turned it around in the third behind 3 three pointers from Brielle Baker and grabbed a 43-38 lead at the end of the three. The Trojans fought back to tie the game late at 58, but the Panthers scored the next five points and secured the win.

Creston was led by 26 points from Kelsey Fields and 24 points from Brielle Baker. The Panthers get back above .500 with the win and are 9-8 on the season. They will travel to Clarinda on Thursday.

Atlantic had one of their better offensive outputs of the season and had four players in double figures: McKenzie Waters with 14, both Alyssa Ginther and Baylee Newell with 13, and Haley Rasmussen with 10. The Trojans fall to 3-16 and will face Clarinda on Tuesday night at the Atlantic Middle School at 6:00pm.
