The National Weather Service today (Thursday), said “Confidence continues to increase for a light to moderate snowfall over much of the region Saturday evening and Sunday. At present, a more widespread snow is expected generally 3 to 5 inches in the heavier regions with lighter amounts elsewhere.” From roughly Onawa to Atlantic and down to Osceola, snowfall is expected to range from 1-to 3-inches, with the far west and southwest areas receiving around an inch of snow. Further north and east of Atlantic, 3-to 4-inches of snow can be expected according to the latest information.
Officials say that although wind is not expected to add to travel challenges with this storm, late night travel and Sunday travel should still be of concern with snow covered roads and some icy patches.
Over the south, there may also be some light freezing drizzle Sunday afternoon as the storm begins to slowly pull away from the region.
