COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa (AP) — Authorities say a 19-year-old man has been hospitalized after crashing into a pickup during a chase by officers in Council Bluffs. The Pottawattamie County Sheriff’s Office says deputies began the pursuit Wednesday after the man was spotted going more than 100 mph in his sports car. The car went out of control and rammed into the truck when the driver tried to avoid stop sticks deployed by deputies. The impact sprayed broken glass onto the patio of a nearby ice cream shop, Christy Creme, but authorities no one there was injured.

The man was taken to an Omaha, Nebraska, hospital. He was identified as Peter Hobart. His brother, Owen Hobart, says his sibling has a fast car and thinks he can outrun officers, because he did so once before.
