Flash Flood Warning until 10-a.m. for Taylor & Ringgold Counties

A FLASH FLOOD WARNING IS IN EFFECT UNTIL 1000 AM CDT FOR
TAYLOR AND RINGGOLD COUNTIES.

AT 512 AM CDT…DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED THUNDERSTORMS CONTINUING TO PRODUCE HEAVY RAIN ACROSS THE WARNED AREA. RADAR ESTIMATES SHOW THAT THREE TO FIVE INCHES OF RAIN MAY HAVE FALLEN IN THESE AREAS WITH NEARBY OBSERVATIONS SHOWING NEARLY SEVEN TENTHS OF AN INCH HAS FALLEN IN ONLY 20 MINUTES.

FLASH FLOODING IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN SHORTLY IF IT HAS NOT ALREADY. SOME LOCATIONS THAT WILL EXPERIENCE FLOODING INCLUDE…
MOUNT AYR…BEDFORD…LENOX…CLEARFIELD…DIAGONAL…BLOCKTON…
GRAVITY…SHARPSBURG…REDDING…BENTON…CONWAY…MALOY…DELPHOS..
ATHELSTAN…MT AYR MUNICIPAL AIRPORT AND LAKE OF THREE FIRES STATE PARK. THE PLATTE AND GRAND RIVERS…AND THEIR SMALLER TRIBUTARIES…MAY BE AFFECTED AS WELL.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

TURN AROUND…DON’T DROWN WHEN ENCOUNTERING FLOODED ROADS. MOST FLOOD DEATHS OCCUR IN VEHICLES. BE ESPECIALLY CAUTIOUS AT NIGHT WHEN IT IS HARDER TO RECOGNIZE THE DANGERS OF FLOODING.
