Iowa Boys State Golf Tournament – Summary

The two-day Boys State Golf Tournament wrapped up Saturday at courses located in Livermore, Ft. Dodge and Marshalltown.

In Class 3-A, at the Spring Valley Golf Course, in Livermore, the team from Webster City came away with the win, with the best low score of 614 after two rounds of play. Manchester-West Delaware placed second with their score of 625, Gilbert was third, with a score of 630. Atlantic placed 5th with a score of 643. The top Trojan scorer for Atlantic was senior Kyle Nelson, who placed 15th with his best, two-day low score of 157.

In Class 2-A at the Lakeside Golf Course in Ft. Dodge, Panorama took first place at the tournament for the second year in a row. It was the third-straight trip to State for the Panthers, who shot a two-day total of 604. Fort Dodge/St. Edmond was second, shooting a tow-day total of 613, followed by Kuemper Catholic, with a 614. Individually, for the Panther’s, Junior George Appleseth’s tournament score of 145 was the lowest. This is the third-straight trip to State for Panorama.

In Class 1-A at the American Legion Golf Course in Marshalltown, East Buchanon claimed the title, shooting a team-best 620 for the two-day event. Mason City-Newman Catholic was second, followed by Nodaway Valley in third place, with their score of 648. Griswold place 5th, with a two-day best score of 671. Individually, for the Griswold Tigers, senior Jacob Reynolds shot the best low score over the two-day event, of 151, which was good for 6th place. Senior James Reynolds, from Griswold, shot a total of 153, which placed him 8th in the event. Nodaway Valley senior Jackson Lamb took 12th place individually, with his two-day total of 157. Fellow senior Sam Marnin shot a total of 159, placing him in the 14th slot.
