April 20th, 2016 by Ric Hanson

Police in Harlan say one person was transported to Myrtue Memorial Hospital following an accident Monday at 8th and Chatburn Streets. Officials say Bruce Heilesen, of Harlan, complained of head and neck pain, after his 1998 Honda collided with a 2000 Dodge. Heilesen was transported to the hospital by private vehicle.

Officials say the accident happened as Heilesen was traveling west on Chatburn Avenue, in the outside lane.  The Dodge, driven by Dorothy Lefeber, of Harlan, was traveling east on Chatburn and had stopped to turn north. Her view of Heilesen’s Honda was obstructed by a westbound truck traveling in the inside lane Chatburn. Heilsen’s vehicle made contact with the right front tire area of the Dodge during the collision.

Damage from the mishap amounted to $4,000.  No citations were issued.
