Man from Adair arrested for 3rd degree sexual abuse

Adair County Sheriff Jeff Vandewater has released his weekly arrest report. In it, the Sheriff reports 39-year old Robert Gene Bashaw, of Adair, was arrested Feb. 24th in Adair, on a charge of Sexual Abuse in the 3rd degree. The alleged victim is a female in her teens. Bashaw was released from custody Feb. 25th, on $10,000 bond.

Also arrested in Adair County recently, was 23-year old Shuoyang Yu, of Iowa City. He was taken into custody Feb. 22nd  near the 85 mile marker of eastbound Interstate 80 by an Iowa State Patrol Trooper. Yu was pulled over for speeding. A check of the vehicles’ license plate also revealed the license of the registered owner of the vehicle had been revoked. Yu was arrested for Driving Under Suspension. He was also charged with Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, after a search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of a backpack in the trunk. The backpack contained several green bottles of a green leafy substance that resembled marijuana. It also contained a glass pipe, an electronic vaporizer, hashish and one package of an edible THC-infused candy. Yu was released from the Adair County Jail Feb. 23rd, after posting a $1,000 bond.

Other arrests in Adair County include: 54-year old Timothy John Vaneaton, of Orient, who pulled over Feb. 23rd for not wearing a seat belt. Vaneaton was subsequently arrested for Driving While Barred. He was later released on $2,000 bond; 35-year old Jennifer Marie Woollums, of Greenfield, was arrested Feb. 25th on an arrest warrant. Woollums was then transferred to the custody of Adams County authorities; On Feb. 27th, 25-year old Tarayia Shilon Brooks, of West Des Moines, was arrested in Stuart for Driving While Barred. The woman was then released on the citation; And, on Feb. 24th, Deputies in Adair County arrested 33-year old Dylan Joseph Evanoski, of Des Moines. He was serving the balance of his two-day sentence on a warrant for Possession of a Controlled Substance/Meth-1st offense, when authorities were notified Evanoski was wanted on a warrant out of South Dakota for Possession of a Schedule 1 or 2 Controlled Substance. He was being held at the Adair County Jail pending extradition to South Dakota.
