The Atlantic Girls Basketball team improved to 4-0 on Tuesday night with a win on the road at Red Oak.  The Trojans jumped out to a 22-4 lead after the first quarter and never looked back.  Hot shooting started the charge for Atlantic as Skye Thompson hit 4 first half three pointers and Erin Olsen had 13 first half points to lead the charge.

Altantic head Coach Kelly Juhl was pleased with the balanced scoring he continues to get from his team saying “Any one of those five starters we put out on the floor can lead us in scoring and you bring Stephanie (Sandbothe) off the bench and she could lead us in scoring too.  We just have to keep teams guessing.”

The Trojans did get a little sloppy with their play in the second half and Coach Juhl said part of that is they are not experienced in playing with a large lead yet. “We aren’t used to playing with a double digit lead.  I think we are still practicing on what we are supposed to do.  We want to still be aggressive but we don’t want to just pump up three point shots and let them back in the game. Something that we need to acclimate ourselves to a little better. We still want to run our offense and still be patient. It gives us something to work on as we build for Creston on Friday.”

The Trojans were led on the night by 16 total points from Erin Olsen who did go down a little awkwardly guarding a sideline play toward the end of the game.  Skye Thompson had 12pts and Stephanie Sandbothe finished with 9.

The Trojans are on the road to Creston on Friday night for a Hawkeye 10 Conference game.
