FORT DODGE, Iowa (AP) — Fort Dodge police are still trying to find out who fatally shot a 30-year-old man. Officers found Wendel Clark in his car Wednesday morning, and he was pronounced dead later at a hospital. Webster County Crime Stoppers is offering a $2,500 reward for information that helps solve the case.

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — A top Des Moines Republican political consultant has been diagnosed with cancer and is in aggressive chemotherapy treatment. David Kochel, currently a strategist for GOP presidential candidate Jeb Bush, was diagnosed on Saturday, according to a page his colleagues created on the CaringBridge DOT org website. The website reports he is in good spirits.

DAVENPORT, Iowa (AP) — Nine wooden benches have been installed in downtown Davenport as part of a $200,000 effort to decrease flooding in the city. The Quad-City Times reports the three-sided benches surround a cut in the curb that opens to a square pit planted with a tree and filled with soil and rock.

DUBUQUE, Iowa (AP) — A Dubuque metal artist has donated two mechanical sculptures to the city in hopes that the pieces will inspire children to think differently. One of the pieces by Jim Avery is an 11-foot-tall dicycle on which riders sit in the spokes between two wheels, while the other is a bicycle on which riders sit within the wheels.
