IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) — A 38-foot-long recreational vehicle sponsored by the University of Iowa will soon travel Iowa promoting the state’s rich history. The Mobile Museum is expected to make its inaugural appearance in Fort Dodge this weekend, and stops in Decorah, Osage and Council Bluffs are planned. The university plans to show it off to the media Tuesday.

The Mobile Museum is sponsored by the Old Capitol Museum, Museum of Natural History and Office of the State Archaeologist. It will feature exhibits about mammals that roamed Iowa during the last ice age, the founding of Iowa, and the state’s “ancient agriculturalists” based in the Loess Hills.

UI vice president for research Dan Reed says it is a “museum built in Iowa, by Iowans, for Iowans” that will visit schools, libraries and special events.
