Atlantic Fire and Rescue, Medivac Ambulance, Cass County Sheriff’s deputies and Atlantic Police responded to the scene shortly after the 9-1-1 call was received at around 4:10-p.m.  The vehicle, which nearby residents said appeared to be a convertible-style, hit the guardrail and rolled down the west embankment before coming to rest on its wheels facing north in the ditch near a small creek.

The victim, who was said to be female, was trapped in her vehicle when rescuers arrived. The Iowa State Patrol was investigating the scene. The victim’s name and other details were being withheld, pending notification of family.
