DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — The Iowa Supreme Court will reconsider a controversial ruling in which the court it was legal for a dentist to fire his assistant for being too attractive. Chief Justice Mark Cady signed an order in late June that resubmitted a lawsuit filed by Melissa Nelson. A new decision could come as early as Friday. Nelson sued after Webster County dentist James Knight fired her in 2010.

EVANSDALE, Iowa (AP) — Nearly a year after two Iowa cousins were abducted and killed, family members and police remain frustrated by the investigation’s slow progress. Elizabeth Collins and Lyric Cook disappeared on July 13th, 2012 after riding their bikes near Meyer’s Lake. Investigators from the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation and FBI are trying to determine what happened to the girls, who were found dead in December. Drew and Heather Collins told the Des Moines Register this weekend that the pain of losing their daughter remains fresh a year later.

PLEASANT HILL, Iowa (AP) — Authorities are investigating a rollover crash that killed the driver and injured seven passengers in a minivan that was crossing Iowa. The Polk County Sheriff’s office says the crash happened on Highway 65 near Pleasant Hill Saturday afternoon.

STORM LAKE, Iowa (AP) — Nearly three days after his boat capsized on Independence Day, the body of a 28-year-old Ireton man was pulled from Storm Lake. The Buena Vista County Sheriff’s office says Jaime Adan Jamie-Vazquez’s body was found early yesterday.
