IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) — A state trooper has been shot while chasing bank robbery suspects near Frederika in northeast Iowa. But his injury isn’t believed to be life-threatening. A SWAT team is helping search for suspects who robbed the Maynard Saving Bank around noon today.

IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) — A Davenport man has agreed to plead guilty to an Iowa City bank robbery. Eric Martin reached a deal with prosecutors and will be sentenced in February for the holdup at the Hills Bank last April. Authorities say Martin was caught with a backpack containing a gun and $23,000 of the bank’s money.

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — An Iowa woman is suing Deere & Company, alleging racial discrimination. Copa Burse says co-workers taunted her and painted racial slurs on her locker at the plant in Ankeny. She also says she found a doll painted with a black face hanging at her home. A spokeswoman says Deere doesn’t tolerate behavior that creates a hostile workplace.

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — A judge has rejected a casino operator’s request to temporarily block the nonprofit group holding the Sioux City casino license from working with another developer. The ruling will allow Missouri River Historical Development to work with Hard Rock Casino developer Sioux City Entertainment in trying to establish a land-based casino to replace the Argosy riverboat casino.
