ISU’s Lenz Makes Hornung Award Watch List

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Iowa State wide receiver and kick returner Josh Lenz was among the 49 multi-talented college football players named to the 2012 Watch List for the Paul Hornung Award Thursday, presented by Texas Roadhouse.The award is administrated by the Louisville Sports Commission.

Lenz, a Dubuque, Iowa native, has 73 career catches for 866 yards and four touchdowns. He has averaged 6.7 yards on 46 punt returns, including a 62-yard return for a touchdown against Kansas in 2010. Lenz, who played at Hempstead High School, has averaged 23.1 yards on 38 kickoff returns. He leads all Iowa State returnees with 1,095 career all-purpose yards. Among Lenz’s memorable catches are the winning grab from Steele Jantz in the endzone against Northern Iowa last season and an acrobatic reception for a TD from Austen Arnaud at Texas in 2010.

The Paul Hornung Award, now in its third season, is given annually to the most versatile player in major college football by the Louisville Sports Commission and football legend Paul Hornung. The 2012 Watch List was compiled by a panel of college football experts based on a combination of 2011 statistics, career performance and expectations heading into the 2012 season.
