NEWTON, Iowa (AP) – Michael Annett says there would be no better place to win his first NASCAR Nationwide Series race than Iowa Speedway. The track in Newton is 30 miles from his hometown of Des Moines, and Annett has been on the verge of a breakthrough for weeks. The 26-year-old goes into Saturday’s U.S. Cellular 250 on a career-best run. He came in sixth last week at Indianapolis and was in the top five in three of four races before that. Annett is among three native Iowans in the Nationwide field this week. He’s joined by Joey Gase of Cedar Rapids and Brett Moffitt of Grimes, who will make his first career series start. Annett has more than $3.6 million in career earnings. He’s sixth in the point standings this year.
