DAVENPORT, Iowa (AP) – Organizers of the popular Bix 7 running race in Davenport are canceling a training run for the second straight week because of extreme heat.  The Quad-City Times reports that Thursday’s Bix at Six training run has been called off because of forecasts that call for temperatures of close to 100 degrees.  Similar temperatures caused last week’s Bix at Six to be scrapped, which was thought to be a first in the 20 years the training runs have been held. An extra practice run has been scheduled for July 19th.  The seven-mile race through Davenport that attracts elite runners will take place July 28. It is the 38th annual Bix 7 race.
