WATERLOO, Iowa (AP) — City officials in Waterloo are looking at a proposal that would protect domestic violence victims from being evicted from their homes. The Waterloo City Council is scheduled to consider the ordinance today at the request of the city’s human rights commission. The Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier reports the measure would prevent landlords from discriminating against victims of domestic violence, dating violence or stalking.

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — A collision between two boats on the Des Moines River left one dead and at least two others injured. A spokesman for the Iowa Department of Natural Resources says the crash happened before 7 p.m. yesterday on the river near the Birdland Marina area, just downriver from downtown Des Moines. The DNR didn’t release the names of those involved and didn’t provide details about last night’s accident.

BOONE, Iowa (AP) — Two people were killed in a weekend crash on U.S. Highway 30 in central Iowa. The Nebraska State Patrol says 77-year-old Dorothy Peter and 80-year-old Delbert Peter, both of Boone, died from injuries sustained in the crash shortly after 3 p.m. Saturday. At least two people were taken to the hospital after the wreck.

WEST LIBERTY, Iowa (AP) — A Waterloo man has died in a single-car crash in eastern Iowa. Cedar Rapids news station KGAN-TV reports that 41-year-old Scott Mullin lost control while driving on a county road in Cedar County, just south of Interstate 80. The accident happened shortly after 10:30 p.m. Saturday.
