Heavy rain in Atlantic at mid-day Saturday

The skies opened-up over Atlantic at mid-day, dumping more than 1.1″ of rain in about an hour. Since 7-a.m. (and thru 12:55-p.m.), we’ve received 1.18″ of rain at the KJAN studios. All but .07″ fell from about 11:30-a.m. thru 12:30-p.m. Sprinkles were lingering in the area at 1-p.m.

The latest forecast from the National Weather Service:

REST OF TODAY…PARTLY SUNNY. BREEZY. A SLIGHT CHANCE OF THUNDERSTORMS IN THE AFTERNOON. A  SLIGHT CHANCE OF LIGHT SHOWERS LATE IN THE AFTERNOON. HIGH IN THE LOWER 80S. SOUTHEAST WIND 10 TO 20 MPH. GUSTS UP TO 30 MPH IN THE AFTERNOON. CHANCE OF PRECIPITATION 70 PERCENT. 

TONIGHT…PARTLY CLOUDY. LOW IN THE LOWER 70S. SOUTHEAST WIND 5 TO 15 MPH.
